Japanese green teas are known for precise, mechanical plucking, exceptionally graded leaf and their refreshing flavors. What started as a Chinese import, (tea was introduced to the country by Buddhist monks centuries ago) has grown into one of the most respected and specialized tea industries in the world.
Prior to the Fukushima nuclear event of 2011, most of the Japanese teas we purchased came from farms in the north of Japan. However, in order to ensure the integrity of our food safety program post-Fukushima, we buy our Japanese teas exclusively from growers in the south of Japan, primarily from the Kagoshima region. These teas have all passed stringent guidelines and are free of radioactivity. Explore our full line of Japan’s exceptional offering.
