Frequently Asked Questions about Organic Loose Teas
What is Organic Tea / Herbal Tea?
Organic Tea is tea that has been grown and processed on garden plots that have
not been treated with synthetic fertilizers, or pesticides, for a minimum of
3 years. Further, organic teas are processed on machines that do not
come in contact with non-organic teas. The process is highly regulated
and controlled from plucking through to packing and shipping.
How does an Organic tea/herb farm operate?
Operating an organic tea garden or herbal farm is a multi-stepped process.
- Abstinence from using any synthetic fertilizer or pesticide
- Environmental protection of lands surrounding the gardens
- Minimizing pollution and optimizing biological productivity
- Replenishment and maintenance of garden soil fertility. In the case of tea, growing Guatemala grass and rotating plots to help rejuvenate soil.

If I open my bag of organic tea and repackage it, is it
still organic?
Yes. Opening and repacking a bag of Organic tea will not
take away organic status. Organic status is the result
of farming, production methods, and 3rd party certification -
not packaging. However, organic tea that is opened and
blended with non-organic tea can no longer be considered certifiably
organic.
